Yesterday, Spotify sent out media invites fora May 20th press event. For the most part, its a bit of a mystery in regards to what this could be about. According to the folks over at the Wall Street Journal, there may not be much of a surprise.
Their sources suggest that Spotify looks to add video to their streaming service. It is said they have been reaching out companies to specialize in crafting video content as well as looking to purchase existing content for making their original video for Spotify. This makes for an entirely new market for the company who’s been primarily focused on music.
The music streaming market is definitely starting to boom or get a little crowded these days. With Google Music Key and Tidal’s video offerings out-and-about it looks like Spotify is looking to jump out ahead of the pack w/ content.
