For those of you who may have pegged connected cars as a passing fad or something, it is here to stay. When it comes to connected vehicles, you have 2 options: Google’s Android Auto & Apple’s CarPlay. Yesterday, GM (General Motors) announced more vehicles arriving to support the platforms. Specifically Buick & GMC.
CarPlay is set to arrive on the 2016 Buick LaCrosse and Regal while it will make its way to the 2016 GMC Canyon, Yukon, & Sierra. Apple’s connected car solution is set to arrive 1st on a 7inch infotainment display while Android Auto will arrive sometime later on an 8inch display. The rollout would be similar to when they did it w/ the Cadillac & Chevrolet connected vehicles.
We’re looking forward to seeing how many other automakers get behind one or both of these solutions in the near future. How about you?
