Seeking to do a better job at penetrating the US market, Huawei brings over one of their latest flagships here in the states w/ the P8 Lite. Unveiled at a small press event yesterday morning, Huawei is ready to combat the competition for your attention & dollars.
Don’t let the Triangle, Circle, & Square fool you. There’s no Lollipop here.
The P8 Lite is a well put together device as it is the right thickness at 7.7mm and feels like a dummy phone for its size as it weighs in at under 5oz. Just overall super light weight w/ a good feel to it. As far as the specs go, they are more or less the same as the model from overseas. As you have a 5inch 720p IPS display, running an octa-core 1.5Ghz Snapdragon 615 CPU, running Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat w/ Huawei’s Emotion UI, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage expandable to 32GB via microSD, the option to utilize dual SIM cards, a 13MP 28mm rear-facing camera w/ a single LED flash + 5MP shooter on the front, and a 2200 mAh non-removable battery inside. Within my 24 hours w/ it, it has been a very good & snappy experience. Some unlocked devices can be buggy right out of the box but not in this case.
Huawei made sure to do things a little bit different this time around by being the 1st company to offer a 2-year warranty to cover localized repair w/ free shipping. This includes additional support via call center & online support. That’s not all. They want to make sure everyone no matter your financial standing can get this phone. So they’ve teamed up w/ Affrim to installment plan options of 3, 6, or 12 months.
The P8 Lite is available right now for $249.99 as you can pick it up on Huawei.com, Amazon, Fry’s, Target, & B&H. It will also arrive at Best Buy retailers & online sometime in the near future. We’ll have a full review for you guys before the end of the month.
