Despite the backlash of many folks wanting the service to fail, Tidal is still going strong. They have lots of news to unveil today. Young Money CEO Lil’ Wayne has just joined the service as an official Tidal member. He also brought along a new track called Glory as it can only be heard on the service.
Up next, we now have desktop apps for both Mac & PC in beta form of course. Still MIA is offline playback though. The UI for the mobile & web apps got updated to now offer a more minimal menu, better search results, and extra personalization options. Now we have built-in Ticketmaster support which allows you to view artists’ tour dates as well as purchase concert/festival tickets directly from the app. And lastly, discounts for college students. Anyone w/ a valid .edu email address can get their subscription for half off. Making the standard tier only $4.99 and the Hi-Fi tier now $9.99.
They still have a long road ahead to convince the public why they should leave Spotify or Google Music to come over to them. Are you Team Tidal yet or do you need more to make the switch?
