This morning, Motorola unveiled their new 2015 flagships & lineup in NYC. They wanted to tackle the dilemma of offering a better smartphone for your $$$. To do so, they unveiled the Moto X Style, Moto X Play, and the new Moto G. Let’s dive into everything that’s new w/ it.
Motorola opted for a 3-pronged offense this time around w/ no smartwatch – yet.
The Moto X Style offers a 5.7inch QHD or 2K display, powered by a 1.8GHz hexa-core Snapdragon 808CPU, 3GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage along w/ microSD card support, 21MP rear-facing camera + 5MP shooter on the front, front-facing stereo speakers, NFC, and a water-repellent coating. Customization options include options like silicon backs, smooth wood, leather choice for rear covers courtesy of MotoMaker. The Style touts the fastest charging in the market – even faster than the Galaxy S6. Offering 10 hours of more power & 50% more power.
Moto X Style Pure Edition is what it will be called in the US as it offers the device unlocked,pure Android, and universal LTE banding to work on all the top 4 US carriers. It will arrive in September for $399 unlocked at your local Best Buy retailer as well as Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, and Motorola.com.
Moto X Play offers a 5.5inch 1080p HD display, a massive 3630 mAh battery w/ the same 21MP rear-shooter and 5MP front-facing shooter. Powered by a octa-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon 615 CPU, 2GB of RAM, your choice of 16GB or 32GB of storage, and also is water-resistant.
The new Moto G offers a 5inch HD display, powered by a quad-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon 410 CPU, choice of 1GB or 2GB of RAM, choice fo 16GB or 32GB of storage, LTE speeds, running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, a 13MP f/2.0 lens for the rear-facing shooter + a 5MP front-facing shooter, microSD card support, and a 2470 mAh battery touting up to 24 hours of battery life. The new G has IPX7 protection making it completely waterproof for up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. Moto G has it rear shells as well as the new option for customization w/ MotoMaker.
The new G starts at $179.99 for the 8GB of storage and will be available today on Motorola’s site as well as Best Buy and Amazon’s sites. It is set to arrive in Best Buy retailers beginning on August 2nd.
