For those of you who were betting on the right candy that started w/ M, today is the day to get your $$$. Google revealed the official name and software version for their next update to Android. It is officially Marshmallow – Android 6.0.
Android M Preview: Nexus 6 & Nexus 9
Along w/ the name includes the final developer preview as well before the official consumer launch sometime this fall. Thus far, Marshmallow is set to include new features like Android Pay + fingerprint sensor support, devices that use USB Type-C, app permissions, Now on Tap, and a host of other new features/UI enhancements to the OS.
With Android 6.0 upon the horizon, its only a matter of time before the official announcement of the 2015 Nexus devices. Thus far, there are rumblings of a Huawei phablet and a refreshed version of the Nexus 5 by LG. No word as of yet on a new tablet for this year. At this point, I’m doubtful.
What do you think about the new name? Did you wager any buddies and won some $$$? Sound off.
