Last week, OnePlus finally revealed their 2nd Android flagship w/ the OnePlus 2 followed up by tons of media coverage and an event in NYC for fans to experience it for themselves on Friday. During that time, the company’s co-founder Carl Pei talked to the folks over at USA Today and shared a lot of insight into what their working on.
Pei stood by their decision to nix NFC off of the OnePlus 2 stating that by the time Android Pay really takes off, they’ll have another device out in the market by then. There was also almost a OnePlus wearable device but they decided to stick w/ smartphones – for now. The big piece was of course the mention of another device coming from OnePlus before the end of the year.
He didn’t get into any details about it really. He did mention that it may or may not have better specs than the OnePlus 2. The rumors before the launch suggested that we would see a cheaper/budget device from the company. Whatever the case, Pei did say that this newer device would be ‘amazing’.
