DSC03450-2Now that Apple is setting up to be more of a direct access to consumers w/ their iPhone Upgrade Plan, South Korean competitor Samsung is looking to follow suit.  According to a report from Forbes, Samsung is looking to offer their own smartphone leasing program for their Galaxy devices.

They hope to kick their program off within a few months here in the US.  This would give Samsung fans the opportunity to go from the Galaxy S device they own to the newest one as well as the Note series.  Just as long as they offer a better value than the carrier’s early upgrade programs, this can work.  This makes sense as Samsung has built themselves to become the top Android phone makers.

With both Apple & Samsung doing this, there will definitely be a shift in the way carriers sell you devices.  For those of you still holding on to 2-year contracts, be prepared to say goodbye to that option completely in the near future.
