The folks over at Ultimate Ears or UE have returned w/ a new product in their line of Bluetooth speakers w/ the UE Boom 2. We got a chance to check it out during the summer at a Logitech event along w/ plenty of other new products.
On the outside it looks the same w/ the same cylinder design, button placement, and ports – even down tot he packaging itself. There are a few minor outside changes though like a new set of colors and an even tighter acoustic fabric material. This new material now makes it completely IPX7 waterproof and withstand drops up to 5ft. The Boom 2 is pretty-much lifeproof this time around.
On the inside, the Bluetooth range has been expanded to now reach a range of 100ft, new drivers make it 25% louder than the original UE Boom, and retains the same 15-hour battery life which is always awesome. The companion app has also been updated to offer new features like remote on/off, a 5-band EQ, Double Up aka stereo pairing w/ other UE products & more.
The new UE Boom 2 is out now for the same price as the original one of $199. The best Bluetooth speaker just got a whole lot better.
