HTC One A9_Aero_6V_CarbonGreyHTC decided to do things a little bit different this time around towards the end of the year.   Instead of a 2nd flagship, we get a premium mid-range device ideal for the current climate of stellar mid-range Android devices.  This brings us to the HTC One A9.

HTC is the 1st manufacturer to offer Marshmallow outside of the new Nexus devices.

This time around HTC equips the One A9 w/ a 5inch 1080p display, powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 617 CPU, option for a 2GB of RAM + 16GB of storage or 3GB of RAM + 32GB of storage, both w/ the ability to expand up to 2TB via microSD card, running Android 6.0 Marshmallow w/ Sense 7 UI, fingerprint sensor Home button, a f/2.0 13MP rear-facing camera w/ OIS + a f/2.0 4MP Ultrapixel front-facing camera, new Dolby Audio Surround drivers + a built-in DAC for better audio, and a 2150 mAh battery w/ Quick Charge 2.0 support.

The One A9 will arrive in several colors through the US carriers.  However, HTC will offer an unlocked edition as well to be free from the carrier’s bloatware & pricing.  The One A9 will offer 6 months of Google Play Music as well as their Uh Oh Protection – which will replace your device from shattered display, water damage or carrier switch for the 1st 12 months.

Right now, you can buy the One A9 for $399.99 in your choice of Opal Silver or Carbon Gray.  The other 2 colors of Deep Garnet & Topaz Gold will become available later down the line.  So you get Google Now On Tap, Doze, the best audio, and perfect design for all under $400?   Sounds like HTC actually has a winner here – at least on paper anyways.
