Lately, Apple CEO Tim Cook has been throwing around a bit of shade lately to Microsoft and it’s new Surface Book as he called it a diluted product. Which is quite interesting as Apple just released their version of the surface w/ the iPad Pro. I wanted to get excited about it but really couldn’t find any reason to be.
I mean it is a giant iPad that doesn’t really offer anything compelling other than now 4 speakers. It also borrows from the Surface w/ a keyboard stand and stylus. Apple hopes that the new iPad will replace a PC for some but w/ it running a mobile OS, I am doubtful. What I would have loved to see is if this thing ran Mac OS X or some sort of hybrid between that and iOS. Cook recently did an interview w/ Independent.ie standing by all of his statements as well as confirming no plans of merging combining their 2 OSes for this or any other device.
Cook has never been about that hybrid life and he’s not gonna start anytime soon. Apple’s stance on the iPad Pro as been about being a tablet for more productivity. With more power, screen size & pixels, it hopes to do just that. They will probably need really interesting apps to help seal the deal to win over those who are actually on the fence about picking one up. For those of you who wanted to this to run a more powerful OS, I suggest you look into the Surface Pro 4 or the Surface Book. As Apple’s future included 2 OSes and not one – for now.
