We know that the new Galaxy S device from Samsung will be upon us soon. The new unveiling is a typically in February for Mobile World Congress in Spain but they could do their own thing as they have done in the past. There have been several reports in the wind already on what to expect – this might be the biggest one of all.
Looks like Samsung was listening to the fans for the Galaxy S7 features.
We could see the return of both microSD storage up to 200GB & IP67 water resistant exterior on the Galaxy S7. According to the latest report from the folks over at Venture Beat, these will be among several key features to return to the Galaxy S series.
When we say Galaxy S7 devices, we mean the standard S7 and the S7 edge. The S7 is said to sport a 5.1inch QHD AMOLED display while the S7 is supposed to sport a 5.5inch dual-curved QHD AMOLED display. The S7 devices are also said to have bigger batteries (but not removeable) to appease the S6 users who weren’t pleased w/ the battery life. The S7 will have a 3000 mAh battery while the S7 edge will have a 3600 mAh battery w/ both devices supporting Fast Charging + Fast Wireless Charging.
Also, Samsung looks to come back to using Qualcomm chipsets for certain markets. Expect to see the Snapdragon 820 CPU inside w/ 4GB of RAM and 32/64GB storage options. And lastly, Samsung will downgrade their camera from 16MP to 12MP so that the design sits flush w/ the back and improve low-light performance w/ its f/1.7 lens.
So who’s actually excited for this year’s Galaxy S7 devices? If you owned a S5 on a 2-year contract, then it looks to be the perfect time to upgrade.
