Just as Sony’s other consumer cameras got upgraded, now its time for their super-zoom shooter to get a refresh. Welcome the RX10 Mk III to the Sony lineup of shooters. While there isn’t a huge difference here, there is a notable one.
You now have 25x optical zoom w/ its f/2.4-4 24-600mm lens equipped w/ optical image stabilization. Offering up 3x the zoom in exchange for variable f/2.4-4 aperture instead of the constant f/2.4 one. Other than that, you still got all of the goodies from the previous model. This includes a swiveling 3inch LCD screen + OLED viewfinder, 960fps 1080p slow-motion, 4K video @24 & 30fps, and a ‘silent mode’ that shoots clips @14fps.
Look out for the Rx10 MkIII to arrive sometime in May w/ a $1500 price tag. Is this the camera for you?
