While at the awesome launch party, we got a chance to spend some time w/ the latest from HTC.  Here are our 1st impressions of the new HTC 10.  Apologies for the audio but that music was bumping.

HTC 10-2

  • Despite the negative comments across the internet at the leaked photos, this actually comes together quite nice in person.  The design language is a mesh of the One M8 & One A9 along w/ an actual Home button and chamfered edges on the rear.  Those edges make it a whole lot less slippery.
  • On the performance side of things, that Snapdragon 820 is rolling quite smooth.  Now you might expect that but you’d be surprised how often on some devices get lag right out of the box.  From opening apps, the camera, switching apps and more w/ ease.  Since it has a metal shell, it will get hot but nothing insanely scorching.

HTC 10 custom 1st look

  • There is definitely a lot of customization available to you here.  HTC’s Theme store offers up themes, wallpapers, icon packs, sounds, & fonts to make this device your own w/o the need for 3rd party apps.  Even your keyboard has its own themes & dictionaries via TouchPal.
  • The new camera sensors are fast as the layout is more so of Google’s latest version of the Camera app but w/ HTC’s own little twist to it.  You got a pretty fast performance w/ the captures in standard as well as in HDR mode.  The rear 12MP Ultrapixel 2 setup appears to be really good thus but we’re gonna go real deep within the photos & videos.  We’ll definitely follow up next week w/ more in-depth coverage so stay tuned.

Expect more coverage on the HTC 10 next week as we’ve only had it for just over 24 hours.  Let us know in the comments what would you like us to tackle for the camera test & full review.
