Earlier this morning in London, Huawei finally unveiled what they’ve been working on.  Introducing their latest flagships: the P9 & the P9 Plus.  Now before you get your hopes up, there is no word on whether or not or even if it will arrive here in the US.

Now back to these beauties and what’s inside.  The new series offers 1080p displays (P9: 5inch + P9 Plus: 5.5inch), powered by 64-bit octa-core Kirin processor, 3GB of RAM (P9)/4GB of RAM (P9 Plus), 32GB (P9)/64GB (P9 Plus) of storage, running Android 6.0 w/ Huawei’s EMUI 4.1, fingerprint sensor, 8MP front-facing camera + 12MP dual cameras on the rear, and a 3000 mAh battery (P9)/3400 mAh battery (P9 Plus).

Other than having premium features/specs, it does have another key trick up its sleeve w/ a new camera setup co-engineered w/ Leica.  The 12MP dual lens Leica setup on the rear has a monochrome lens + a RGB one.  The monochrome one offers up amazing black & white photos w/o the use of a filter.  While the RGB one gives you better low-light, better contrast, and amazing detail.   They also take advantage of the both cameras on the processing side of things to create a real premium camera performance.

If Leica is involved, I want in.  The P9 series will begin shipping on April 16th globally but not in the US.  Hopefully, we can get some of that action over here in the states eventually.  Fingers crossed.
