While we already caught wind about the possibility of HTC behind the 2 Nexus devices, now there is more details to more or less confirm it happening. Thanks to both Android Police + the infamous @evleaks, we have new things like codenames and thoughts on some of the specs they might be equipped with.
It’s been quite some time since HTC and Google worked together for the Nexus program. The HTC Nexus One came out in early 2010 as one of the 1st devices to be sold unlocked int he US. And it looks like 6 years later in 2016, HTC has come back to the Nexus side of things.
For starters, Google refers to their upcoming Nexus products w/ aquatic names and it is no different for 2016. This time around the 2 internal codenames of the Marlin (M1) and the Sailfish (S1). With the M1 being the more powerful or the flagship device like the Nexus 6P and the S1 being more mid-range like 5X. Benchmarks have also shown the M1 sporting a quad-core Snapdragon 820 & 4GB of RAM but that’s pretty standard for high-end device of this year.
That’s pretty much all we know in regards to the device. We’ve already talked about some of the software coming w/ Android N. There’s talk of Android’s version of 3D Touch coming as well. Whatever the case, these might be the most anticipated Nexus devices in quite a long time.
