Earlier this morning, Motorola held an event in India to unveil the new Moto G family for 2016. That’s right, a family of devices – 3 to be exact. This time around, we have the Moto G4 Play, Moto G4, and the Moto G4 Plus.
Motorola’s budget phone arrives in a trifecta.
Kicking things off w/ the Moto G Play, you can think of it as the new Moto E in regards to specs. It offers a 5inch 720p display + 294ppi, powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 CPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD slot, running Android 6.0.1, a f/2.2 5MP front-facing + f/2.2. 8MP rear-facing cameras, a water repellent nano-coating , and a 2800 mAh battery.
The Moto G4 & G4 Plus are more similar than different, save for a few more things on the Plus model. Both tout a 5.5inch 1080p display + 401ppi, powered by an octa-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon 617 CPU, a water repellent nano-coating, a 3000 mAh battery w/ TurboPower charging, and Moto Maker shells.
The Moto G4 offers 2GB of RAM, choice of 16GB or 32GB storage expandable up to 128GB microSD, and a f/2.2 5MP front-facing & a f/2.0 13MP rear-facing cameras. While the Moto G4 Plus offers the choice of 2GB or 4GB of RAM, choice of 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of storage expandable up to 128GB microSD, a f/2.2 5MP front-facing & a f/2.0 16MP rear-facing cameras w/ laser + phase detect autofocus, and a new fingerprint sensor.
All devices will arrive in the US and other countries abroad. It will arrive in India and Brazil 1st, (their most successful markets for it), Europe and the US arrives in the summer.
