Earlier this morning, Pebble announced their 3rd smartwatch in the form of a Kickstarter campaign w/ the Pebble 2, the Time 2, and the Core. With the 2 smartwatches not much as changed. The Pebble 2 offers a simliar design to the 1st Pebble while the Time 2 offers a brighter color display and a battery life of up to 10 days. Both add heart-rate monitoring abilities now.
“This is kind of a lazy refresh.”
The actual new thing is the Pebble Core, which is an accessory clip that’s connected. This acts a GPS dongle, record voice notes, stream music w/o the need of your smartphone, and send an Emergency SOS to your smartphone. This comes in a version for running and a version for hackers. This is starts at $69 and is set to arrive sometime in January 2017. The Pebble 2 starts at $99 and will arrive this September while the Time 2 starts at $169 and will arrive this November.
This is kind of a lazy refresh as we’ll have to wait another year until we get an entirely new watch from them. Hopefully, they’ll prove me wrong and not release the Time Round 2 later this year. Pebble stated that a steel version of the Time 2 is coming BTW.
