Moto Z In Situ PhotographyMotorola is back and taking zero prisoners w/ their latest flagship offering.  Say hello to the all-new Moto Z: packing tons of power & attachments done right.  The new Moto Z will arrive in 3 versions: the Moto Z & Moto Z Force for Verizon, and the unlocked version.  The key feature this time around is their Moto Mods snap-on accessories on the rear of the device.  We’ll get back to them in a second.

The Moto Z shows you how modular should be done.

Both devices are made of a metal unibody and super thin design.  Both offer a 5.5inch QHD AMOLED display + 535ppi, powered by a Snapdragon 820 CPU, 4GB of RAM, choice of 32GB or 64GB of storage expandable up to 2TB via microSD, running Android 6.0.1, fingerprint scanner, water-resistant coating, and a f/2.2 5MP wide-angle lens in the front + flash.  The standard Z has a 2600 mAh battery, f/1.8 13MP rear-facing shooter w/ OIS, laser autofocus, and dual LED flash.  While the Z Force offers up ShatterSHiled technology on its display, a 3500 mAh battery, f/1.8 21MP rear-facing shooter w/ OIS, laser + phase-detection autofocus, and a dual LED flash.

Now back tot he Moto Mods, it utilizes magnets to snap-on the accessories onto the back of the device.  They’ve partnered up w/ several companies to get this done.  Kate Spade is providing the aesthetics for fashion Mods, JBL is handling the audio for the speaker Mod, Incipio & Mophie are handling the power for their battery pack Mods, there’s a pico projector in there, and more to come.

All of this and the customization of Moto Maker, Moto is taking their smartphones very seriously.   Verizon gets dibs on the new Moto Z & Z Force Droid Edition, and theMods 1st in the US this summer.  Then it will be available globally unlocked during the fall.   I hope LG takes notes in case they continue their little snap-on accessories thing cause this is how its supposed to be done.
