This morning, Tesla took to Twitter to announce a more affordable version of the Model S w/ the S 60/60 D. For those of you familiar w/ the Tesla lineage of vehicles, it is more so the return of the Model S 60.
The ‘new’ Model S 60 will start at $66,000 and the Model S 60D starts at $71,000. The S 60 tops out at 130MPH, go 0-60MPH in 5.5 seconds, and go 210 miles per charge. While the 60D is all-wheel drive, a range of 218 miles, and go 0-60MPH in 5.2 seconds. Both vehicles will ship w/ their self-driving technology, Autopilot. And lastly the battery gets updated to 75kWh, new refreshed grill, LED lights, and the air filtration system from the Model X.
The reason for its return is simply costumer demand. The people have voiced to Tesla that they wanted a more obtainable version of the Model S and here it is. So until the Model 3 is available to all, this will be the most affordable Tesla.
