Looks like hell may have actually frozen over – in a sense of sorts. The latest word around the town about the upcoming iPhone 7 is that they will finally be ditching the 16GB storage size as the base model. Hallelujah!
Goodbye to 16GB iPhones as they add a 256GB option.
The newest bit of info comes from a source from the folks over the Wall Street Journal which states the iPhone 7 will starts off w/ 32GB of storage and cap out at 256GB. Nice! The smaller size was the base model since the iPhone’s inception nearly 10 years ago. While the competition have been rocking 32GB as starting points for a while and its nice to see Apple finally play catch up. Taking in 4K video, live photos, and other app data, the less than 16GB of storage can run out lightning fast.
The only real question left is what will be the storage options for the i7? Will it be 32GB/128GB/256GB or 32GB/64GB/128GB/256GB? Whatever the case, expect that 256GB size to cost you.
