Last week, DJI unveiled an update to their handheld gimbal camera w/ the Osmo+. For the uninitiated, the Osmo is the same camera stabilizing gimbal from their drones in handheld format to record + vlog a lot easier. Believe it or not, I’ve been seeing a lot more in the wild but mainly members of the media.
Anyways, the new Osmo+ has a few more tricks up their sleeves to provide an even better experience. The basics are the same w/ a 12MP Sony Exmor R CMOS sensor that records video in both 1080p + 4K. It has now added the camera setup of their Zenmuse X3 that adds 3.5x optical zoom + 2x digital lossless zoom giving you 22mm to 77mm focal length. The battery also gets a bump to a 1225 mAh battery and you can now shoot at 100fps too.
Lastly, DJI added a new feature called Motion Timelapse that allows you to draw your path for a timelapse w/o the need of any extra equipment. Yeah. The Osmo just got a lot more interesting. It is now available for purchase and it will cost you $649. Hopefully, this will mean the original will get a nice price cut.
