google-maps-wifi-only-modeEarlier today, Google announced that their Android version of Maps is getting an interesting update that will start rolling out today.  This update will add Wi-Fi only mode & the ability to save maps offline to microSD card.

With Wi-Fi only mode, it will allow you to save on your data by only allowing the app to grab map data only when Wi-Fi is around.  The part of saving maps offline to microSD cards is pretty straightforward.  Instead saving offline maps to your phone’s storage, you now have to the option put it elsewhere.

We haven’t come across an APK of the update so in the meantime, you’ll have to wait it out until you get the official update from the Play Store.
