Just in case you thought Google couldn’t do anything else in regards to what they can bring to Android, guess again. The folks over at Android Police got some reports of seeing an early version of Android 7.0 and were able to recreate it as you can see above. Enter the new look for the Google Launcher.
The new launcher shows off the new app drawer, the Google Now area, and the Search widget. Starting off w/ the app drawer, there is no more button to access the apps. You now just swipe up from the bottom to access them now. The Google Now area is still there as the new Google Assistant is now built into the Now On Tap side of things along w/ new shortcuts. And finally, the Search widget is still there but condensed into a small tab w/ the letter ‘G’ on it. You would tap it over to begin to type a search.
We can expect these changes to arrive on the new Nexus phones. With the official Android 7.0 not too far off, the new Nexus devices won’t be too far behind.
