Yesterday might as well been Google-leak day w/ all of the information that was coming out of the woodwork on their October 4th event. One of the latter pieces of intel that came out was what the new Chromecast of 2016 will look like. And as you can see from above, not much has changed.
Dubbed the Chromecast Ultra will add support for 4K playback w/ no word as of yet in regards to if HDR support comes along w/ that. It pretty much resembles the 2nd-gen Chromecast w/ the plastic circle & HDMI cord that attaches to the back of it via magnets. However, we do see that the Chrome logo has been replaced w/ Google’s G logo which is said to pretty much be on every device unveiled on the 4th BTW.
Reports have the price tag locked in at $69 which is about double the price of the 1080p version. So along w/ the HDR feature, the real question is: what Google won’t unveil next Tuesday? There is a lot on their plate already. Whatever the case, I can’t wait.
