This morning Nintendo finally revealed their next-gen console but it’s not quite what you might be expecting. So long the Nintendo NX and say hello to the Nintendo Switch. This is a 2-in-1 console that utilizes cartridges again and will allow you to play at home and on-the-go.
You see a home base station that attaches its controller accessories and then the controllers can disconnect and attach to its display hidden within the home base for on-the-go gaming. The portable angle looks like a less clunky controller on the Wii U. Now don’t expect the return of big cartridges from the Nintendo & SNES days as it will utilize smaller kinds from the Nintendo 3DS. Not much else has been revealed about the internals other than it being powered by a custom NVIDIA Tegra processor.
They showed off about 6 different games during the trialer above like The Legend Of Zelda, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Mario Kart, Splatoon, an NBA game, and a new Super Mario game. You already have support from publishers like Activision, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, and Bethesda. There’s still time for more to get onboard as the console itself isn’t due out until March of next year anyways.
So what do you think of the new vision for Nintendo? Excited? Intrigued? Bored? Sound off.
