For the uninitiated, Lima is a new-ish company that specializes in create a small & pocket-able personal cloud storage or a NAS (network-attached storage). They had a version of this last year and decided to improve on this the same idea. Enter the Lima Ultra: a more powerful rendition of as personal cloud solution.
Think of it as a cheaper alternative to Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, etc.
The Lima Ultra works like the previous model as it is a small box armed w/ an Ethernet port that plug into your router & USB HD. This will act as virtual storage that you can access your files/media via their apps over 3G/4G/LTE/Wi-Fi speeds. This time around you have a quad-core 1.5GHz CPU, more RAM, and a Gigabit Ethernet port to better handle large files & 4K video.
For those of you who already own a Lima from last year, don’t fret as you can use it w/ the newer one to work hand-in-hand. The Lima Ultra went on sale yesterday on their site for $130. They’ve already sold out 4 hours after launching so you’ll have to wait a few weeks before you get yours. If you’re tired of paying $100 a year to Dropbox, this might be your solution.
