Earlier this morning, Samsung announced some huge news in regards to their plans for their future. They just acquired Harman and all of its brands for $8 billion. This includes Bowers & Wilkins, Harman Kardon, JBL, Infinity, and Mark Levinson.
So what exactly does Samsung plan on doing w/ these audio brands now under its umbrella? The main reason for the purchase was to focus on their automotive ideas of their version of a connected car. But that doesn’t mean that the rest of Samsung’s products won’t reap the benefits as well. So we can expect to eventually see some audio/visual integration make its way to their Galaxy smartphones, displays, VR, and wearables.
So if you were already a big fan of both Harman and Samsung, looks like this might the best acquisition for you. Time will tell how well it actually turns out, though.
