Remember when we talked about Google cranking out their own take on Android Wear? Yeah, it’s getting more traction in becoming a bit of a real thing. The folks over at The Verge did an interview w/ Android Wear product manager about the details to share on the matter.
He noted that Google will unveil 2 flagship Android Wear smartwatches sometime during the 1st quarter of next year. Yes, Android Wear and not under the Pixel brand. It will work like the killed-off Nexus line where another company will brand it. Along w/ that, expect to see it sporting Google’s latest software w/ Android Wear 2.0 and it’s latest features: Android Pay & Google Assistant. Of course, no brand names were hinted or mentioned during this interview so bummer.
Speaking of the Wear 2.0 update, the official update is set to arrive really soon as the final Developer Preview is coming sometime next month. The smartwatches that will support Wear 2.0 are the 2nd-gen Moto 360, Moto 360 Sport, LG Watch Urbane/Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, G Watch R, Polar M600, Casio Smart Outdoor Watch, Nixon Mission, Tag Heuer Connected, Fossil Q Wander/Marshal/Founder, Huawei Watch/Watch Ladies, Asus ZenWatch 2/3, and a Michael Kors Access Dylan/Bradshaw.
Who’s still interested in Android Wear as smartwatch sales have been in the decline?
