For those of you out there who are like me and were hoping that Huawei would bring their latest Mate 9 to the US, your wish has been fulfilled. Yesterday at CES, Huawei let everyone know that the device will be available starting today. Yay!
Huawei is looking to seal the deal within the top phone makers and this might just do it.
To recap on what makes this so great – at least on paper anyways. The Mate 9 touts a 5.9inch 1080p display, powered by their own octa-core Kirin 960 CPU, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage, microSD card support, fingerprint reader, a 4000 mAh battery, USB-C, and Android 7.0 w/ EMUI 5.0 w/ app drawer. Also, we see the return of the Leica branded dual camera like we saw on the P9. This time around we have a 20MP monochrome sensor + a 12MP RGB sensor. Both offer f/2.2 aperture & OIS.
Instead of opting for Google’s Assistant, Huawei went to Amazon to add Alexa as a digital assistant. You would be able to do everything you can w/ an Echo like set timers, get weather updates, traffic, control smart home products, etc. Alexa is set to arrive via OTA update very soon.
The Mate 9 is on sale now unlocked for $599. You can pick one up at B&H and Best Buy as well as Newegg and Amazon. So who’s looking to start off their year w/ the Mate 9?
