Earlier today, Acer announced tons of new hardware in NYC. It was mostly computers & laptops for both the consumer and gaming crowds. What stood out for me was their new smartwatch: the Leap Ware.
The Leap Ware is being marketed as a stylish yet functional fitness smartwatch. It has a round bezel, powered by MediaTek MT2535 chipset & a bio-sensing chip to monitor heart rate, stamina, stress, fatigue, and UV exposure. You got a 42mm face w/ 20mm bands that can be swapped out. This looks like a much better version of the now-dead Pebble Time Round.
Now it doesn’t run Android Wear as it utilizes Acer’s own proprietary software via their Liquid Life app. The app will also allow you to set fitness goals and go head-to-head w/ your friends as well. It can still connect to an Android device or your iPhone.
Acer’s Leap Ware wearable is set to go on sale later this July for $149. It was a zoo there so we didn’t get a chance to really get photos or videos on it. My bad.
Is the Leap Ware something you think you would be into?
