Next week, Microsoft is holding a hardware/software event in NYC focused on education. It is happening on May 2nd at 9:30AM EST as we will be in attendance. We will see some new goodies at this event but don't expect to see the new Surface Pro 5 or Book at this event as that will come later.
According to the folks over at Windows Central, focus on education will be in the form of a new OS: the Windows 10 Cloud or Windows 10 S. This would bring forth new hardware to go along w/ its specialized version of Windows 10. More specifically laptops to go head-to-head against Google's Chromebooks who's been dominating the education sector.
According to documents obtained by WC (seen below), the new laptops are said to have a minimum of hardware specific specs like a quad-core CPU, 4GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB of storage via eMMC or SSD, a 40 WHr battery or larger capable of 10hours or more, and options for pen/touch support.
Whatever they wound up unveiling, we'll be there to cover it. Stay tuned!
