We told you it was coming and now we have it. On Friday, the folks over at Digital Foundry from Eurogamer dropped their exclusive on the more powerful Xbox One coming w/ Scorpio.
As far as the specs, we’re looking at a 2.3GHz custom 8-core x86 chipset made w/ AMD, a new 1172MHz GPU comprised of 40 compute units, 12GB of GDDR5 RAM, 1TB HD, and 4K Blu-Ray Drive. So all of these numbers mean that the Scorpio will be 30% faster than the Xbox One w/ a GPU that’s 4.6 times more powerful.
They managed to test out Forza 6 on the system that displayed the game at 4K resolution @60fps at around 60-70% of its full power while the Xbox One running a game at 1080p resolution @60fps utilizes about 90% of its power.
When you compare the specs of the PS4 Pro, the Scorpio has more power. Sony’s high-end console has a 2.1GHz 8-core Jaguar CPU, a 911MHz GPU, 8GB of GDDR5 RAM, 1TB HD, and a standard Blu-Ray drive.
Looks like the output ports will mirror that of the Xbox One S. The pricing will more than likely match that of the original Xbox One price point of $499. Now everyone wants to know is: where are the games? But we got E3 in June for that to provide us w/ that info – hopefully.
