We know w/ every year that brings forth a new Galaxy S device, we will also get a new Galaxy S Active device as well. This year brings forth the Galaxy S8 Active which brings all of the bells & whistles of the standard S8 but w/ a more durable & militarized MIL-STD certification body.
Thanks to the folks over at Android Central who spotted these sightings over at a Reddit forums. We got a better look at what it will look like. We’re looking at a 5.8inch display from the standard S8 w/ a traditional & non-curved screen, a polycarbonate body w/ metal sides, it retains the onscreen buttons from the S8 instead of the typical physical ones from previous Actives, and a massive 4000 mAh battery w/ wireless charging.
Other than that, we’re expecting the same internals w/ a Snapdragon 835 CPU, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage expandable via microSD, and a 12MP rear + 8MP front-facing cameras. So while Samsung made sure to bring over a lot of changes from the S8, it will still be a thicker device – still being a Galaxy S active device. You won’t have the reprogrammable Active button as it will be replaced w/ a dedicated Bixby button. And lastly, it may not have the underwater camera mode from previous models.
So thoughts? Who’s getting the more rugged version of the S8 or are you still holding off for the Note 8?
