So Fitbit has returned to the smartwatch table w/ another wearable. They call it their best yet as well as calling it the Ionic. They made sure not to skip a beat on this one.
Fitbit ain’t pulling any punches w/ this one.
You got on-device workouts, built-in GPS, NFC for payments on-the-go, smartphone notifications, heart-rate monitoring, a swim exercise mode w/ water-resistance up to 50 meters, a SpO2 sensor to read blood oxygen levels, a 4-day battery life, and enough to storage to hold over 300 songs & Pandora playlists.
Fitbit is working to get their own Fitbit Payment system coming as they’re already working w/ AMEX, MC, & Visa to bring this to fruition within the coming months. With more global banks coming soon afterward w/ ANZ, Banco Santander, Bank of America, Capital One, HSBC, KBC Bank Ireland, OCBC Bank, Royal Bank of Canada, UOB and US Bank.
Verizon will be the exclusive carrier for the Ionic even though it won’t offer LTE support. However, you can also find it at Best Buy, Target, Dick’s, Amazon, Kohl’s, Macy’s, and REI. The Ionic will cost you $299 and will be available for pre-order on Fitbit now & everywhere else tomorrow.
