Kicking off MWC 2018 is LG w/ their slightly refreshed take on the V30. Introducing the V30S ThinQ w/ a few new features to add tot he V30 experience or at least they’re hoping to do so. There is a lot that is the same from the V30 and some things were added to the spec sheet.
Unfortunately, the front-facing camera & the software is still the same.
So what remains the same is their dual-camera system, the same 6inch OLED display, a 3300mAh battery, same 5MP selfie camera (which sucked bad) and same Snapdragon 835 chipset. So the V30S has 6GB of RAM, runs Android 8.0 Oreo, and new AI features mainly integrated into the camera.
You got AI CAM that analyzes the subjects within the frame to recommend a shooting mode that enhances the subject like portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise, & sunset. You got Voice AI that makes use of Google Assistant for custom voice commands to take photos. And lastly, you got Bright Mode that utilizes AI to beef up low-light photos to help create better images.
BTW, There is a V30S & V30S+ the only real difference is that the V30S+ has 256GB of storage and the standard V30S has 128GB. Both are expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. The outside of the phone looks the same but you do have new colors of New Platinum Grey & New Moroccan Blue.
The V30S will hit Korea in a few weeks and said to be announced in other regions sometime in late March. The real question is how long will these features take to get to the regular V30? We’re not sure who asked for V30S but time will tell if this device is even worth existing or not. We haven’t played w/ it so we won’t know.
