2017 was an interesting one for Apple and it looks like 2018 will keep the feeling going. This year Apple will be dropping updates for some of their products which haven’t gotten any love lately. We already heard the AirPods, the iPhone SE, and now you can add the MacBook Air to the list.
The MacBook Air is the laptop that pushed the envelope in thinner laptop designs but hasn’t been updated in several years. According to the folks over at 9to5Mac, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that Apple will release a 13inch Air w/ a lower price tag to boost their laptop sales. Not sure what the lower price point would be but not sure this would be the move to actually boost their laptop sales but who knows.
Apple already discontinued the 11inch Air and the 13inch Air currently starts at $999 w/ a 1.8GHz dual-core i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM, & 256GB SSD. They could always bring back the 11inch or add a 13inch w/ slightly lower specs. At this point, the 12inch MacBook & the Air should just be one line or kill off the Air completely.
