Kicking off Apple's WWDC for 2018 is the newest version of their mobile software: iOS.  Enter iOS 12 w/ a more robust list of features coming to iPads & iPhones like more augmented reality (AR) abilities, FaceTime group chats, Apple's take on Samsung's AR Emojis, more sharing, Shortcuts, and tons more.  Let's break it all down below:

  • FaceTime Group chat w/ up to 32 people at a time.  

  • Make an Animoji of yourself w/ the new Memoji.
  • You can now group notifications, finally like on Android.
  • The Measure app which is an AR ruler to measure 3D things in the real world.

  • More AR games that support multi-users.
  • The Photos app  get more sharing suggestions as AI can better detect people in the shot.  
  • Shortcuts app adds homescreen shortcuts for Siri to do on a daily basis like grabbing coffee, checking the weather, etc.  
  • Voice Memos now arrive to the iPad. 
  • Siri can now offer more than 40 language pairs and brings more knowledge of sports, celebrities, food and nutrition. 
  • The CarPlay app will be improved with third-party maps support, including Google Maps and Waze.
  • iBooks gets a new design and becomes Apple Books & offer live previews of books.

  • Apple is taking a page from Google's book w/ digital health as they'll be introducing app limits, screen time, family monitoring, and more Do Not Disturb features.  
  • Faster overall performance by 40%, keyboards loading 50% faster, and the camera opening 70% faster on older devices.
