Along w/ the Galaxy Note 9, Samsung made their new smartwatch official as well. Say goodbye to the Galaxy Gear brand and say hello to the new Galaxy Watch brand. While conflicting rumors said it may or may not run Android’s Wear OS, this is running Samsung’s Tizen 4.0 OS.
The Galaxy Watch arrives in the 2 standard sizes of 42mm & 46mm or women’s & men’s sizes. Other than the size & battery, both watches are the same. The 42mm offers a 1.2inch always-on Super AMOLED display + 270 mAh battery while the 46mm offers a 1.3inch always-on Super AMOLED display w/ a 472 mAh battery. Samsung touts that it will have a 4-day battery life BTW. Both are powered by dual-core CPUs, 4GB of RAM, 768MB of storage, heart rate sensors, wireless charging, IP68 dust/water-resistance, NFC, GPS, Samsung Pay, Samsung Health, new exercise tracking modes, stress management, & of course Bluetooth. There is an LTE model coming as the only thing different here is that it will have 1.5GB of RAM.
The 42mm Galaxy Watch will arrive in Midnight Black or Rose Gold while the 46mm only comes in Silver color options. Like the Note 9, pre-orders kick off today for it and will launch in stores on August 24th. The 42mm will cost you $330 while the 46mm will cost you $350. You’ll be able to pick it up from Amazon, Best Buy, & Samsung’s store while the LTE model will come later in the year on all carriers.
Will you be upgrading your smartwatch to this one?
