Yesterday, Microsoft unveiled their game streaming platform that will bring Xbox One + PC games to your smartphones + tablets dubbed Project xCloud.

Microsoft wants to make it so that existing & future games will work w/ their streaming services.  They’ve been building custom hardware for its data centers as will be a multi-year journey for the company.  They’re looking to making this as fast & as latency-free as possible.  Public trials for xCloud is set to go live sometime in 2019 as we’ll hopefully get more intel on the details.  While 5G is looking to be the next big thing in wireless speeds, xCloud is said to work fine over a 4G network as well.

So now that NVIDIA got one, Sony has one, Google just announced theirs, and now Xbox threw their hat into the game-streaming world.  The future of gaming is getting interesting.

What’re your thoughts on game streaming?
