We got the new software and iPhones out of the way for the year. Now for Apple’s last big showing of the year: new iPads & Macs. We’re only days away from the big announcement and we got some intel on what to expect. A few definites w/ multiple possibles for you Spades players out there. Let’s dive into it all, shall we?
New iPad Pros
- Bezel-less & notchless 11inch + 12.9inch iPad Pro LCD screens w/ 120Hz refresh rate (no OLEDs – this time)
- Powered by a faster variant of the A12 Bionic CPU + Apple’s in-house GPU
- Face ID for security ass well as Animoji + Memoji support
- USB-C for fast-charging & 4K HDR output
- New Apple Pencil that will charge via USB-C instead of Lightning port
- Running iOS 12.1 (that should bring Group FaceTime, dual SIM support + more)
- Removes the headphone jack
- No word on pricing for other of them but we expect them to be around the same
Pro Verison of the Mac Mini
After being neglected for 4 years, Apple is looking to show love to the Mac Mini desktop computer. But instead of a mild refresh, Apple is said to go Pro w/ this like they did w/ the iMacs. Not sure what they do here other than max out the internals more than ever before. Maybe make it capable of light video editing as to not step on the toes of the iMac Pro.
MacBook Air Sequel
This is the one that I think many have been waiting for: a new MacBook Air. Although it will more than likely go under the MacBook line as the MB Air moniker might be a wrap. This might just turn out to be a refreshed MacBook w/ a slightly higher resolution Retina Display. Will this be all USB-C or throw in a few USB-A (regular USB) ports? That is among the many questions we about this one.
AirPower, AirPods, iPad Mini & Other Maybes
- The infamous AirPower wireless charging pad for 2 devices hasn’t been heard about in a year. Since then, many other companies already have theirs out & about in the market. Hopefully, we can get an update at the least or a launch date for it.
- While it may not get officially announced, we get a tease for new-and-improved AirPods for a 2019 launch. It is said to offer improved audio quality w/ some noise-canceling abilities for the popular wireless earbuds.
- This event is said to be dedicated towards the iPad Pro line, there were a few rumblings of a new iPad Mini being announced as well. They haven’t made any changes to this since 2015 so if not a new design for it, definitely give it newer internals + features.
- Last but not least, we may get an update to the regular iMacs. The focus has been towards the iMac Pros, we haven’t seen any changes in the standard models in a while. Maybe Retina DIsplays for all trims & newer CPUs + internals to go along w/ it.
All will be revealed on October 30th in Brooklyn. Apple’s event kicks off at 10AM EST as you can watch the livestream here or on your Apple device.
