On Friday, we got a chance to hang out in NYC w/ folks from Xiaomi to show off some new things the company is bringing to us here in the US.  They showed off several new products but today we’re focusing on one of them: their 150inch laser projector.

More specifically, it is called the Mi Projector.  It is a laser-based 1080p projector w/ an ultra-short-throw aka you can place it only 20inches from a wall.  It can project up to a 150inch image utilizing ALPD 3.0 laser technology by Appotronics, running Android TV w/ Google Assistant support via remote & voice, and a 4-speaker audio system that supports Dolby & DTS audio technologies.  In regards to ports, it offers 3 HDMI ports (including 1 HDMI Arc port), 2 USB ports, one Ethernet, & SPDIF.

Now that all sounds great and all but they want $2,000 for a 1080p projector though.  That’s gonna be a tough pill to swallow especially w/ there being 4K projectors out on the market.  The crazy thing is that Xiaomi actually has a 4K version of the Mi Projector but it is currently only sold in China.

I think the visual quality was fine as I wished it was a little more clear.  Not sure if anything needed to be adjusted or not.  On the audio side of things, I thought it offered a great output from a 1st listen.  Of course, we’ll have to test it out for a more accurate opinion.

Who’s interested in checking out the latest projector from Xiaomi?
