Looks like things are getting more interesting on the gaming side of things. Based on a Microsoft session at the upcoming Game Developers Conference, Xbox Live is going cross-platform. I wouldn’t say hell is freezing over as PlayStation isn’t involved in this in any way, shape, or form.
So Xbox’s gaming platform will soon have a developer kit to integrate it w/ Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch games. This would bring your achievements, clubs, friends list, and more. However, don’t expect games to support it right away as it may take a while to get the kinks out and assimilate to the other platforms properly.
This could be them laying the groundwork for their game streaming service as well as their cloud-only Xbox set to arrive in the near future. Add their Game Pass service into the mix and Microsoft is ready for the future of gaming.
