Yesterday, it looks like hell froze over. I saw that due to the image above and the news that comes along w/ it. Microsoft and Sony announced a partnership to join forces on their cloud-based gaming.
This partnership gives Sony access to Microsoft Azure to support game & content streaming. This will improve the overall quality on Sony’s end as Xbox is already taking advantage of their xCloud gaming streaming service. I’m not sure if this is response to Google’s Stadia cloud-based gaming of being able to play top-tier games on their Chrome browser. We played a game on Stadia and it was pretty damn-good as a game-streaming experience.
They announcement didn’t share too many details on the team-up but we can expect more info to be revealed at E3 this year. Hopefully, this will lead to Sony working w/ Microsoft for more cross-platform gaming. That would be amazing if that happened.
