Google is known to do small and big versions of select devices. They did it w / the Pixel & Pixel XL, Google Home & Google Home Max, and so on and so forth. Last year’s Google Home Hub was on the smaller side w/ a 7inch display.
Fast-forward a few months later to now, we now have the larger version of it. Meet the larger Next Hub Max. Now shouldn’t this be the Google Home Hub Max? Well yes but in an effort to include the now completely under Google, Nest product line, their Smart Displays will now go under the Nest branding.
So this packs a 10.1inch LCD display w/ 1280 x 800 resolution, stereo speakers, and a 12MP Nest camera for Duo video calls. The Nest Camera can be monitored by your Nest app as well as offer motion sensors too. The camera & mic can be disabled BTW. They offer the new Face Match feature which is an encrypted model that recognizes your face to go along w/ voice match via on-device machine learning that is stored on the device. Has a rear woofer + stereo sound but you can just stop the audio by just raising your hand.
The Nest Hub Max is due out this summer for $229. Also, the smaller Google Home Hub Nest Hub is now $129 instead of $149, the Google Home is now $99, and the Google Home Max is now $299.
Is this the Smart Display you’ve been waiting for or not?
