Edifier W830BT Headphones: Big Sound w/ An Even Bigger Battery

So budget headphones have been a growing niche these days – especially within the depths of Amazon.  You have several companies out there proving such a service like TaoTronics, Mixcder, JLab, Cowin, and more.  But today, we’re talking about a company we’ve worked w/ before: Edifier.

We’ve tackled their Bookshelf Speakers previously and now we’re talking about their headphones.  Today’s subject of discussion is their W830BT headphones.  We’ve been using them off-and-on over the course of 2 months.  We’re looking to see what’s good & bad in these $60 headphones.  Our review of Edifier W830BT headphones awaits you.

Now keep in mind that these are budget headphones for the most part.  So w/ that lovely $60 price tag there will be some sort of compromises.  Looks like Edifier made them in the overall design/construction of these cans.

Plastic, creaky yet comfortable.

Its a mostly plastic build and it shows as it kind of creaks a bit when adjusting them.  Not to the point of them breaking but not the solid build we’ve experienced w/ damn-near all of the headphones we’ve reviewed over the many years of doing this.  This is the only true downside of these headphones.   Not quite the dealbreaker but as good as we would’ve liked them to be.

Despite the build, they are still comfortable.  Not the most cushiest feeling pair of cans but can endure 8-12 hours of wear (even w/ glasses) and not get fatigued around the ears.   However, I am curious to see if their more higher-end headphones offer a better construction though.

Sound quality comparable to $300 headphones.

Now, this is the part where these would surprise you.  The sound quality from the W830BTs is really, really good.  Good enough to be comparable to other headphones within the $250 & up but for a fraction of that price.  Edifier armed these guys w/ the usual suspects of a pair of custom 40mm drivers to handle the job.  The output is full and heavy on the bass – just the way I prefer my music to be ideally.  But not to the point of overdoing it as they’re just right.  I’m not too surprised as they make amazing bookshelf speakers as well.  If Edifier’s other cans retain this same sound quality but add good ANC to the mix, they might be a sleeper hit.

This has the longest battery life in any headphone we've tested.

Edifier gave these probably the best battery on a pair of cans.  The W830BTs offer 95 hours of juice and up to 1500 hours on standby.  These numbers aren’t BS either.  Since you don’t have any ANC or any power-hungry feature to drain it,  it’s easy for Edifier to achieve these numbers.  I’ve had these things for over a month and only had to charge them once after using them.  There is a small caveat about them though as you have no USB-C port (still micro-USB) so no fast charging present.  If they last you that long, you won’t need to worry about it too much.

If you in need of headphones w/ unparalleled battery life & sublime sound, look no further than these.

While there are literally tons of headphones to choose from, the W830BTs will satisfy the needs of many.  Ridiculously long battery life and better sound quality than most all in its $60 price range.  Yes, the sound output is really that good.  You just gotta deal w/ a not-so-stellar plastic construction and you got yourself a great pair of cans.

So if you’re not in dire need of ANC headphones, these offer great sound and an abundance of battery to go along w/ it.  The Edifier W830BT should be your next pair of headphones.  Period.
