Apple granted its non-Pro AirPods a modest yet incremental update. The entry-level AirPods 5 get 50% better noise reduction than the previous model, along with improved sound output. The company is calling them ‘the best-in-class open-ear active noise cancellation.’
It will arrive in two models: a $129 standard model with ANC and better Adaptive EQ, and a $149 model with on-stem controls that swipe up and down to adjust volume, plus a wireless charging case that adds 22 hours of battery. The latter version arrives with five hours of battery life, which is one more hour than their predecessors.
Like the AirPods 4, the 5th-gen buds work with Live Translation, Apple Intelligence, hands-free Siri AI access, and Conversation Awareness. Both versions of the AirPods 5 are available for pre-order today and going on sale on September 18.
