So it looks like the rumors were true as Microsoft has been working on yet another new console. Even though the Xbox One X just came out almost 2 years ago. The new console is codenamed Project Scarlett.
Microsoft is arming themselves to fend off Google & Sony.
So like the Xbox One X, Scarlett will step things up in a major way in regards computing & gaming power. This will be powered by a custom processor based on AMD’s Zen 2 + Radeon RDNA architecture, next-gen GDDR6 RAM, next-gen SSD that offers 40x faster, and hardware-accelerated raytracing. All of this combined to offer a variable refresh rate, ultra-low latency input, native 4K @60fps and goes up to 8K +120fps. So this is gonna be some real powerful stuff.
Project Scarlett is due out during the holiday season of 2020. So we’ll see the official name and what it looks like during E3 next year. We’ll see if this will cost more than the $500 Microsoft usually charges for a new console.
