Google showed us the official look of their Pixel 4 w/ now 2 rear cameras.  Now the reports and rumor mill has been constantly speculating on what feature the 2nd shooter will offer: telephoto, ultra-wide angle or other?  Thanks to new intel, we now know what it is.

Thanks to a new leaked version of the Google Camera app from Android Q, we know they’re going the telephoto route.  The folks over at XDA spotted the word telephoto in a version of Google Camera 6.3 in the 5th version of the Q beta.  Meanwhile the folks over at 9to5Google may have spotted the actual sensor being a 16MP lens handling the telephoto duties.

This would offer interesting results as the telephoto lens can bring in actual depth data along w/ Google’s amazing computational photography.  This is fine but I would have preferred the ultra-wide angle action w/ Google’s machine learning this go round.  Hopefully, they’ve shared some of that to their video side of things.

We only have a month or so to find out what all it will have to offer.  What do you think of the new Pixel going telephoto for 2019?
