If you’re familiar w/ Panasonic’s ToughBook laptops, you might think of them as the laptops cops & state troopers use in their patrol vehicles.   But they’re available for anyone who needs that protection & power while on the go.

Today, Panasonic got a newer & better version of the MIL-STD + IP53 certified magnesium alloy rugged laptop w/ built-in handle.  This is the Toughbook 55 laptop which brings for modular customization to the mix.  You’re able to add more ports, GPU, fingerprint reader, an additional SSD, more RAM, swap out a battery giving you up to 40 hours of juice  w/o having to turn it off, and even replace the keyboard w/o needing a technician to do so.

In regards to the actual on-board features/specs, you got 8th-gen quad-core i5 + i7 vPro CPUs, optional AMD GPU, up to 2TB of storage, up to 64GB of RAM, option for 1000-nit touchscreen, option for louder speakers + custom color backlit keyboard, and the 1st Toughbook w/ a USB-C port, HDMI 2.9, & Bluetooth 5.0.  All of this while still being backward compatible for the last generation Toughbook vehicle/desktop docks and the worldwide P.180 data service + AT&T’s FirstNet platform for emergency responders.

The Toughbook 55 is out now starting at $2,099 before adding the modules which don’t have pricing for just yet.  Is this something you will be adding to your staff needs?
